چکیده
ABSTRACT We present the results of a long-term periodicity search in sample ?-ray blazars within multiwavelength context. These have been selected from Steward Observatory as part its optical monitoring program between 2008 and 2018. study 15 sources with temporal coverage their total polarized emission sufficiently large (>9 yr) to perform reliable analysis. collect data several observatories extend coverage, enabling longer periods. In addition, are also gathered high-energy (E > 100 MeV) band Fermi Large Area Telescope; GHz radio Owens Valley Radio Observatory. identify 5 promising candidates host quasi-periodic emission, AO 0235+164, PKS 1222+216, Mrk 501, BL Lacertae, 1ES 2344+514 periods one or more bands statistical significances ?3? after trial factor correction. 0235+164 shows period ?8.2 yr R band; 1222+216 has modulation ?1.6 yr; 501 displays ?5 quasi-periodicity wavelengths; Lacertae presents ?1.8 emission; 2344 + 514 hint ?5.5 band. interpret these framework most common models scenarios, namely presence binary supermassive black hole system; geometrical effects like helical precessing jets.

Multiwavelength Properties of Blazars
Blazar spectral energy distributions (SEDs) are double peaked and follow a selfsimilar sequence in luminosity. The so-called “blue” blazars, whose first SED component peaks at X-ray energies, are TeV sources, although with a relatively small fraction of their bolometric luminosities. The “red” blazars, with SED peaks in the infrared-optical range, appear to emit relatively more power in the gam...
متن کاملA theoretical unifying scheme for gamma-ray bright blazars
The phenomenology of γ–ray bright blazars can be accounted for by a sequence in the source power and intensity of the diffuse radiation field surrounding the relativistic jet. Correspondingly, the equilibrium particle distribution peaks at different energies. This leads to a trend in the observed properties: an increase of the observed power corresponds to: 1) a decrease in the frequencies of t...
متن کاملA Search for Discrete X-ray Spectral Features in a Sample of Bright γ-ray Burst Afterglows
We present uniform, detailed spectral analyses of γ-ray burst (GRB) X-ray afterglows observed with ASCA, Beppo-SAX, Chandra, and XMM-Newton, and critically evaluate the statistical significances of X-ray emission and absorption features in these spectra. The sample consists of 21 X-ray afterglow observations up to and including that of GRB040106 with spectra of sufficient statistical quality to...
متن کاملCoordinated RXTE and multiwavelength observations of blazars
Results from recent multiwavelength observations of blazars are reviewed, with particular emphasis on those involving the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE). I discuss blazars’ spectral energy distributions, their correlated variability at various energies, and the insights they offer on the physical processes in the jet. New results on Mrk 501, PKS 2155–304, and PKS 2005–489 are highlighted. 1...
متن کاملAre bright gamma - ray bursts a fair sample ?
We conjecture that bright gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are bright because they come from sources which are intrinsically over luminous and not because they come from nearby sources. We show that this hypothesis is supported by theoretical and observational arguments and that it explains some well-known properties of GRBs such as their Hardness-Intensity Correlation or the No-Host problem. We discuss...
